FAQ

Top Questions

How do I book my trip?

After discussing your needs over e-mail or by phone we can present you with a no obligation proposal. After any modifications to the itinerary and you are happy we've designed your perfect trip we then issue you with an invoice for the trip which is split into deposit and balance segments. Upon payment of the deposit, that's your trip officially booked and you can look forward to the world's best luxury golf travel. All that's left for you to do is organise your flights and pack your clubs.

What size of groups do you offer trips for?

We look after single golfers right up to entire touring golf club memberships. Most commonly our clients tend to travel in multiples of four.

Will I be met by a Driver at the Airport?

On arrival at your chosen airport, you will be met by your driver/concierge. From this point on, a Connoisseur Golf representative will be available at all times to make any necessary phone calls, modifications to your trip, cancellations, dinner reservations, or organise any extra activities you may wish to partake in during your stay with us. He/she will look after your luggage and golf clubs at all times between accommodations and will always be thinking in advance to ensure your luxury vacation runs like clockwork. Experienced in travelling to all of our venues, he/she will make sure you arrive at each course with ample time to warm-up and relax before your tee-time. They will also be on hand to make bookings at your choice of restaurants and recommend the best bars in each area.

How can I pay?

We accept electronic transfer, Visa or Mastercard.

Can I buy a trip as a gift?

Yes. As long as you know the names and handicaps of the travelling golfers, we can send your finalised trip by FedEx in a presentation folder. After you hand over the gift, we can liaise with the recipient(s) to organise the finer details.

Will my cell phone work abroad?

We recommend you contact your service provider before you leave home to ensure your phone will be correctly set up to make and receive calls in your destination country. It is important to remember that cell phones are not permitted on most golf courses or in clubhouses.

What is the dress code for most golf clubs?

Most golf clubs are reasonably relaxed when it comes to on-course dress code, but most will insist on at least a collared shirt and tailored trousers or shorts. In the clubhouse, hats/denims and golfing footwear/tennis shoes are not appropriate inside any of the clubhouses, and some clubs may insist upon jacket and tie being worn in some areas of the club. Your driver/concierge will remind you of requirements the day before play.

What will the weather be like?

The weather is extremely variable between all our destinations at differing times of the year. Please speak to your Connoisseur Golf representative who will advise you on the weather patterns. Most pro-shops at the courses on your trip will carry an adequate selection of waterproof clothing (or more happily - sunscreen) should you not have any to hand.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend all clients take out personal travel insurance which covers the entirety of your visit with us. This should cover you for non-refundable tour deposits, medical expenses, personal belongings, luggage and transfer delays should you encounter any problems. Please check the terms and conditions of your travel insurance policy prior to the commencement of your trip. Further details on insurance coverage can be found in our terms and conditions.

Should we pay gratuities?

Although it can vary between destinations, and no formal gratuity structure is in place, we recommend leaving a minimum of 15% for dinner bills, and a minimum of 30% for your caddie if happy with the service. Your driver/concierge will advise you on caddie fees at each course.

Can you organise Caddies?

At most courses, caddies can only be requested and not guaranteed. However Connoisseur Golf maintains a healthy relationship with the Caddie Masters at all the venues we use, and your driver/concierge will do everything within his means to ensure you have an adequate supply of caddies throughout your tour. We are very aware that the quality of caddies can be variable at each venue, but we will be able to recommend certain caddies who we know will live up to your expectations. Depending on your itinerary, it may also be possible to keep a favoured caddie on your bag for at least a couple of rounds.

Do I need my handicap certificate?

Several courses have handicap limits and/or require a handicap certificate to be produced when you check in with the starter. To save you this hassle, Connoisseur Golf will keep copies of your handicap card/certificate and check the whole group in, allowing you time to relax and have a few putts. Please e-mail an electronic or scanned copy of your handicap certificate to us prior to travel. (This is a pre-requisite for play on The Old Course at St Andrews).

Can I use a golf cart?

This is variable between our destinations. Most courses in the UK and Ireland have a very limited supply of carts, and reserve them only for golfers with very serious medical conditions. Some courses do not have any carts. If you definitely require a cart to play we recommend you mention this to us while we build your itinerary, so we can do our very best to provide you with as many cart rounds as possible.
