The National Golf Club

The National Golf Club

Overview

The National Golf Club is located at Cape Schanck on Victoria’s spectacular Mornington Peninsula, a 90 minute drive to the south of Melbourne. It's a home away from home for many members that work in the city and come down the coast at the weekend - very akin to Long Island in New York - which is co-incidental, as the club merged with the nearby "Long Island Country Club in 2014. This means 'The National' has 4 exceptional and highly regarded 18 hole golf courses. The Old designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr, The Moonah designed by Greg Norman, the aforementioned Long Island, and the soon to be opened Gunnamatta Course designed by Tom Doak will ensure the club continues to rank as the best piece of golfing real estate in the country. The National now has over 3200 members, further distancing itself from competitors after already having the most golf members of any golf club in the Southern Hemisphere. It's a phenomenal complex, with top drawer service and always presented in pristine condition. It's a relaxing break from the sandbelt courses, and a nice contrast to once again see the ocean. Add a winery on the way back to the city and you have the perfect day.
