The New Course
Overview
The oldest ‘New’ course in the world and the second course at the Home of Golf. It was built by the Keeper of the Green, Tom Morris in 1895. The double greens of The Old Course make way for smaller strategic green complexes, and while it's generally safe to miss tee shots left on 'The Old', the less penal side of this golf course is found on the right. Your score will be made or broken on the par 3's, and in particular - the uphill 9th. Measuring 225 yards with the Eden Estuary on your left and an expanse of gorse bushes to your right, this treacherous short hole requires a brave tee shot to a bowl shaped green. Renowned for its fairness and very challenging closing stretch, the New Course is a classic test of links golf.
