Wormistoune
Overview
Wormistoune House & Gardens sits on the edge of the East Neuk, close to the royal burgh of Crail in the Kingdom of Fife. This is a place of legends, of stories, of poetry. Spending time at Wormistoune is a rare opportunity to be transported back to 17th century Scotland - a time when a laird’s home was surrounded by a heady mix of wilderness and sophistication. In days gone by, Wormistoune has played host to barons and lairds, to scoundrels and artists. Welcome to this little slice of living history. The story of Wormistoune is intertwined with Scotland’s own rich tapestry. A new King often meant a new laird and a new laird always meant a new chapter; But at the heart of the story of Wormistoune must be the mythical Wyrm itself, an ancient Scottish serpent that lived on the mound. Although allegedly slain in the 15th century by the then knight of Wormistoune, it’s memory lives on. Today Wormistoune is the home of the Mccallum’s of Wormistoune who have meticulously restored the property to its glory years. Where the Laird & Lady would entertain their guests discussing philosophy, economics, history and the incredibly exciting development of a modern enlightened Scotland.
