Royal Lytham & St Annes GC
Overview
Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club, founded in 1886, has hosted eleven Open Championships, two Ryder Cups, a Walker Cup and is undoubtedly one of the premier links courses in the world. It's widely acknowledged that the best venues produce the greatest champions. It's no surprise then that Bobby Jones, Peter Thomson, Gary Player, Seve, David Duval and Els have all lifted the Claret Jug at this magnificent links course. The layout is bounded by an affluent and long established residential neighbourhood in the North West of England. So while the turf is beautiful and crisp, none of the holes are within 500m of the coastline. It's a famously well bunkered course, and unlike any other Open Championship venue, begins with a par 3. Aside from the majestic links, you will also find at Royal Lytham & St Annes a wholesome welcome from the members and staff. It's a fantastic club, and if you are not overly precious about the size of your accommodation we recommend a night in the Dormy House adjacent to the clubhouse. Staying here you will feel totally immersed in the history and camaraderie of this great golf club.
